FAQ
Straightforward answers before you instruct us.
These questions come up in almost every first call. If your issue is urgent — arrest, a hearing, a missed deadline — contact the firm directly.
What legal matters does UAEAZ handle?
UAEAZ advises on corporate and commercial work, criminal defence, family and personal status, real estate, employment, civil litigation, debt recovery and arbitration. We act for individuals, families, founders and companies across the UAE, including clients based outside the country.
Do you work with clients who live outside the UAE?
Yes. Many of our matters involve international families, overseas shareholders, foreign investors and companies with UAE operations. Consultations can be arranged by email or video, with in-person meetings in the UAE when needed.
Can you represent clients before UAE courts?
Court representation in the UAE is carried out by advocates licensed to appear before the relevant courts and levels of jurisdiction — first instance, appeal and cassation, federal and local. UAEAZ coordinates advocacy and legal consultancy so that your matter is prepared, filed and, where required, argued by licensed counsel.
How do I arrange a consultation?
Email info@uaeaz.com, or send the form on our contact page. Share a short outline of the issue, any deadlines, and whether you are in the UAE or overseas. We will confirm the next step and any consultation fee before work begins.
What should I bring to a first meeting?
Bring identification, contracts, court or police papers, company documents, tenancy or sale contracts, and a timeline of what has happened. If documents are in Arabic or another language, send what you have; we will tell you if a certified translation is required.
Do you offer advice in Arabic and English?
Yes. The firm works in English and Arabic. Additional languages are available through the team depending on the matter. Tell us your preferred language when you get in touch.
How are fees structured?
Fees depend on the type of matter, urgency and whether the work is advisory, transactional or contentious. We confirm the basis of charging in writing before we start — typically a consultation fee, a scoped professional fee, or a staged fee for litigation. We do not quote a fee until we understand the file.
Is information on this website legal advice?
No. Pages, articles and FAQs on this site are general information about UAE legal topics. They are not legal advice and do not create a client relationship. A formal relationship begins only after we have reviewed the enquiry, completed any necessary checks, and agreed the engagement in writing.
Can I arrange an online legal consultation?
Yes. Consultations can be held by email or video call, as well as in person in the UAE. Online advice is useful for clients abroad and for urgent first assessments. We will tell you if the matter then requires an in-person meeting or a court appearance.
Does khula affect custody or child maintenance?
Khula concerns the ending of the marriage on particular terms. A child’s custody, visitation, housing and maintenance are assessed separately under the applicable personal status rules. Those rights are not automatically lost because khula is requested. Advice depends on the children’s facts, the marriage documents and the court that will hear the file.
Which law applies if I am a resident but not a UAE national?
UAE law is often the starting point. In some family matters a party may ask the court to apply another law, subject to conditions the court will actually accept. We advise on the realistic path — not on a theoretical choice of law that the file will not support.
