UAE employment law is statutory, fast-moving in its practice, and often mixed with immigration status. Losing a job can mean losing a residence visa. Hiring badly can mean a labour claim, a bank freeze on thinking, and a reputational problem. UAEAZ advises both employees and employers — never on opposite sides of the same file.
For employees
We review offers before you sign, and exits before you resign. End-of-service gratuity, notice, garden leave, non-compete clauses, unpaid wages, unpaid commission, leave entitlements, and accusations that may become a criminal complaint are the usual cluster.
If you have already been terminated, keep the contract, any warning letters, payslips, and the termination notice. Then read our general note on UAE employment contracts and contact us with the dates.
For employers
We draft and update contracts, policies, and investigation processes that a labour court can actually read. Verbal warnings, WhatsApp dismissals, and copied foreign HR templates create avoidable risk. A short, lawful process is cheaper than a long, confused one.
Typical employer instructions:
- contracts, workplace policies and commission plans
- performance, misconduct and disciplinary processes
- settlement agreements and final releases
- non-compete and confidentiality
- workforce restructuring
- labour complaints and court proceedings
Where employment becomes something else
Some workplace files become criminal (theft, defamation, cyber accusations) or corporate (shareholder-employees, director service agreements). Unpaid entitlements that will not settle become litigation. We say so early, so you are not fighting the wrong case in the wrong forum.
Abu Dhabi, Dubai and worldwide
This practice is available to clients in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and the northern Emirates, and to clients instructing UAEAZ from overseas by email or video. Court advocacy is conducted by licensed advocates before the relevant UAE court and level. Advice is given in Arabic and English.
To instruct counsel, send a short outline of the facts, any deadline, and the papers you have via our consultation form. An enquiry does not create a client relationship until we confirm the engagement in writing.
